A Day in the Life of a New Hire(Mei)

6:00 AM

Waking Up

I’ve been making an effort to wake up early to join a casual morning study group with my colleague called Asamoku-kai.
Right now, I’m using that time to prepare for the Fundamental Information Technology Engineer Examination (FE).
After about an hour of study, I eat breakfast, get ready, do some housework, and leave around 9:30.
9:45 AM

Arriving at Work

It takes about 15 minutes on foot to get to my workplace.
Once I arrive, I check the day’s meetings and announcements and begin preparing for the tasks ahead.
10:00 AM

Work Begins

I’m currently working on developing APIs.
Understanding complex requirement documents and turning them into code is difficult but I’m grateful to be involved in the entire process, since this is my first on-site project.
With the support of those around me, I’m fully dedicated to each task I take on.
1:00 PM

Lunch Break

For lunch, I usually enjoy a homemade meal prepared by my partner I live with.
I tend to lose focus when I’m hungry, so I make sure to eat well to stay sharp in the afternoon.
2:00 PM

Work Resumes

The afternoon starts with a regular team meeting where we share updates and check on project progress.
After that, I return to the tasks I was working on in the morning.
As I just completed the design documents, I’ll be moving on to the actual development work starting tomorrow.
6:30 PM

End of Workday

Before finishing the day, I review what I’ve accomplished and confirm what needs to be done tomorrow.
I usually leave on time, though I sometimes work a bit of overtime to finish my tasks.
7:00 PM

Returning Home

Today, I attended my weekly dance class.
Dance along to my favorite pop idol group’s songs is not only enjoyable but also a great way to refresh both my body and mind.
Learning new technologies every day can be mentally exhausting at times, but I’m committed to grow as a system engineer and continuing to work toward becoming a skilled professional in the field.
